Zoo

Last week while daddy was off for Labor Day we visited the zoo.

We rode the train.

Something we only do when daddy is around so it was a special treat.

We fed the goats.

Who are ALWAYS hungry.

We fed the ducks.

We played on the sculptures.

But mostly we enjoyed a day with daddy!

36 Weeks

This Tuesday will mark 36 weeks. Just 3 weeks from Thursday this baby will make its entrance into the world. Holy Crap! I think it's time to start freaking out a bit. You see our basement is still under construction and the nursery is a storage room at the moment. I'm not sure the crib will be up before he or she is here. Funny how with your 3rd things like that happen. Carson's room was up and decorated before I hit 20 weeks. But hopefully, with a little luck, that will all change in 3 weeks as we switch every single bedroom around in this house in order to accommodate our growing family. I'm hoping to maintain my sanity in the next 3 weeks which I'm not sure is possible. Good news for me....I don't have to move ANY furniture.

I've been feeling big and large and tired and crabby and hot and large, oh I said that already, well basically every feeling one has in the waning weeks of pregnancy. I'm going in for weekly visits and ultrasounds now since the baby is so big and I have alot of fluid. Last Monday the baby was measuring at a nice, plump, 8lbs 1oz. Ultrasounds can be off by a pound either way...let's hope they are! 10 days before Carson was born they told me he was 11lbs and he was "only" 9lbs 6oz....something tells me that this baby will beat that!

So we wait with growing excitement for this new baby, trying to come up with a name and enjoying the last few weeks as a family of 4. And just for fun here is a belly pic of my ever growing belly.

This Ones For The Dogs

Hard to believe but Emily has been a part of our family for almost 2 months now. Carson adores her. This morning he was up at the crack of dawn to take her for a walk with daddy. He likes to help daddy train her and he loves getting her to play fetch. The other day we were in the car with her and she was whining....

Carson: Emily is sad mommy

Me: Yeah, she just wants to get out of the car.

Carson: I think she needs a friend. Maybe we should go get her brother! (He was at the shelter when we got her.

He's also mentioned more then once that grandma can keep the kitties and we can just get another dog. Ha, one dog at a time sweetheart.

Declan on the other hand could really care less. He loves to go to the dog park and play with all the little dogs. He likes having her around when she's doing what he wants but if she has other plans then Declan gets crabby with her. The other day in the car the conversation went like this...

Carson: I love Emily mommy.

Me: Me too honey.

Declan: I don't love her mommy.

I guess he's being honest?? In all seriousness he has gotten better with her but its still a day to day thing whether he wants her around.

The Basement

It seems the basement has taken up most of our summer. As we near the arrival of another baby we've been feverishly working on the basement to get it done in time. And, knock on wood, it looks like we might get there. We are so excited to have it done and so are the boys. Here are some pictures of our progress.....

I painted the boys' new room while they were away for a weekend. I thought it would only take me a day and a half...I was wrong!

It took me 3 days. And I swear on my life I will never paint a room blue again. Between the red and the blue I did 6 coats plus one wall is khaki so that makes 7 coats. At least it turned out nice but it was enough to drive me crazy!

The boys had a blast with the pink foam insulation. They piled it high and smashed it to pieces.

Declan enjoyed hanging out the fireplace hole one last time before it got closed up.

First Day of Preschool

Yesterday was Carson's first day of Preschool. He was pretty excited to go back and see all his friends. The conversation when I picked him up went something like this...

Me: How was your first day of school buddy?

Carson: Mommy there was new friends in my class.

Me: Oh, what are their names?

Carson: I don't we had to wear nametags.

Me: Well that helps Mrs. Lunder remember your name but she probably knows your since you were in her class last year. What else did you do today?

And pretty much in one breath it went something like this...

Carson: I got to play on my playground and we didn't go to the gym and Mrs Lunder told us to use quiet voices inside and loud voices outside and we sang some new preschool songs and we ate cheese crackers and I still have some in my backback. Can you hand me my backpack so I can get them out? And I drew you a picture and we had water in these little cups and we had to be careful not to spill andI painted my hand and I got to play with Andrew and Rory and Chayden and Westin but Chayden and Rory are friends and there were some old girl preschool friends in there too.

Phew...I was wore out just listening to it all!

This year he'll be going 3 days a week and next year, although I'd like to not talk about it, he will start kindergarten. Hard to believe this little guy is 4.5.

A day at the beach

We hit a local lake yesterday for the first time. Now I'm kicking myself for not going there sooner. The boys had a blast at the beach.

Even Miss Emily joined us for a swim. She wanted nothing to do with playing fetch but she did swim for awhile.

Reason #32 why my husband is the best....

He knows I can't stand swimming in lakes so he gladly, and without complaining, takes the boys for me while I sit on the side taking pictures(being 53 weeks pregnant may also have something to do with it). I need a pool where I can see the bottom and not feel any weeds. Luckily, it looks like both boys have been given the lake swimming gene from my wonderful husband!

And with 3 boys in the water a splash party soon ensues.

Declan has no worries about getting dirty. He'll sit right in the sand with his wet suit.

Carson on the other hand wants nothing to do with being dirty....EVER.

Summer is winding down in our house. Not only are the temperatures a little cooler but Carson starts preschool next Monday already. We dropped off all his supplies last night and saw his teachers, he'll actually have the same ones as last year and his best friend Andrew is in his class again so he's pretty excited. So we've been trying to enjoy as much of summer as we can. Hard to believe that this time next year my little boy will be jetting off to kindergarten!

The other day we painted out on the deck. Why I haven't thought of this sooner I'll never know. They had a blast and it didn't matter is some got on the deck.

I think the rock holding Declan's paper down even got a paint treatment. Now if only we could keep doing this activity outside in the dead of winter.

Carson is almost done with soccer. That's his little butt in the air trying to move his soccer ball with his knee or some other random body part that coach has called out. He's had a blast doing it and we've had fun watching him.

Declan and I usually sit on the sidelines watching. This time he even brought his camera to snap some pictures. We tried to convince him that he could play soccer if he wore big boy underwear but apparently that wasn't enough to change his mind.

Have I mentioned he can be stubborn?
And he'll be wearing diapers to kindergarten?

We've also been trying to enjoy as much pool time as we can. Luckily last week it was HOT so we were able to get some lounging in.

And work on our tan!

I even soaked my feet a few days. I'm chugging along at 33 weeks today. However, yesterday at the doctor I measured a nice 40. This may explain my miserableness (is that even a word?) or the look on people's face when I tell them how much farther I have. Yes I'm big, no there is not twins and no I'm not wrong on my dates....I need those 3 statements made into a shirt.

Do you sense some bitterness in my tone? ;-)

Trevor told me the next 6 weeks would go fast. Hmmm, somehow I think if HE was carrying around this ~~baby~~ toddler in his tummy he'd feel a little different! But alas, I'm praying for patience and strength and some sort of peace of mind that this will end someday. As a bonus I do get another ultrasound in 2 weeks to check the babies size and my fluid level. It seems the little peanut is swimming around in a little extra water but that doesn't seem to be stopping him or her from growing like a weed!!

This weekend we went to a Twins game. The best part of it was...it was in a suite! I'm not sure I can ever go to a game and not sit in a suite again. Lots of room, lots of food, our own entrance, upfront parking and a great view were just some of the many perks!

I had an ultrasound this morning to check baby's weight. Seems, just like Carson, this child is going to be big...maybe even bigger then Carson. And today he or she weighed in at a whopping 5lbs 4 oz. I'm not going to do the math and let you know just how big this baby could get. (Actually I've done the math and I just refuse to share!)

I like to live in denial like that.

But I will tell you I'm measuring about 3 weeks and 4 days ahead of schedule. I doubt that means anything and other then I'm uncomfortable and crabby and still have 8 weeks and 2 days of this left.

Not that I'm counting.

So for now enjoy some pictures of our newest peanut.

A little break

We got a little break from the boys this weekend when they headed to Grandma and Grandpa Cameron's for a few days. Even though it was a much needed break we are very much looking forward to seeing them later today. Although I have enjoyed the fact that my house has been clean since Friday. From the looks of it I'm not sure who had more fun, grandma and grandpa or Carson and Declan.

This weekend was the Sioux Falls Air Show. We've been looking forward to it all summer and after watching them all practice earlier in the week the boys were excited too. We took a leap and went knowing we would be skipping nap time, something that is rarely done in our house. But the boys has a blast and so did Trevor and I. Being there makes you so proud to be an American. We do live in the best country....God Bless America.

I don't know who was more excited....Carson because there were alot of planes to look at or Trevor because he got to tell him all about them. :-)

No I didn't have the baby. Instead I was sucked into getting a dog! Isn't she cute?

Trevor and I have always talked about getting a dog. I always thought I was a dog person, not a cat person. Then I saw Miss Jenna when she was just weeks old and I was suckered in there too. Then I realized just how easy cats are and so getting a dog always took a back seat. To you know, things like having a baby, having another baby, moving, moving again, moving again...you get the point. But we were always sort of looking and talking. Trevor and I tended to disagree on the type of dog we wanted. He wanted a hunting dog while I wanted something smaller, like a Beagle. Well last week this cute little girl showed up on the Second Chance Rescue Center website and those big fluffy ears were enough to sucker me into going to look at her. They opened her kennel and she literally flopped at our feet for pets.....we were sold! Although it took most of the day to convince ourselves of it. Funny how adding a 3rd child to our family was an easier decision than adding a dog.

Carson loves her and adores her. It's been fun watching him get to know her.

Declan's not so sure. He likes to keep his distance (i.e the screen door). But he's coming around. He's so much shorter then Carson that I think her size intimidates him a little.

Her original name when we got her was Cleo. But all Trevor could think of was Miss Cleo, the Psychic. So he wanted to change her name. We talked about it for a few days and then Carson asked me if we could name her Emily. We were both suprised he came up with a name all on his own....and it was a name that didn't involve some sort of Transformer. So we said Yes!!

Miss Emily is a 1 year old Springer Spaniel. We have no idea if she is purebred. Her previous owners were not so good. Trevor's hoping to get her to be his hunting dog. I'm just hoping she doesn't make my house smell like dog!

And what will happen when there is 3 car seats in the car....I have no idea. Anyone want to buy me a suburban?

Summertime at Grandma's

We're at Grandma and Papa's this week and it's been busy.

We went to the zoo where we mostly climbed on rocks and played on the playground.

Declan also rode the VERY fast carousel. Somehow Papa got chosen to ride on it, seeing how he and I have the weak stomach I'm not sure how that happened. But he was a trooper and rode not once, but twice. Seems Declan has the ability to ride things like that without feeling sick for hours after wards. Carson, I'm afraid to say, has mine and Papa's tummy.

We visited another park where we found a clown making balloon animals. Carson requested a red puppy and Declan in his indecisive ways first asked for a turtle, didn't like it since it was for his wrist, so he then requested a teddy bear. And he would go no where near the clown for a picture but he did say thank you.

They also had a bounce house at the park. The boys played so long they got kicked out.

And then we went swimming.

Where Carson had a blast with all the fountains.

Tomorrow its time to go back home. We're all anxious to see daddy and hopefully enjoy some more summertime activities.

We had a fun and busy day.

First we hit the parade!

Then we hit Falls Park (along with several other people)

Took the elevator to the top of the tower at Falls Park.

before we ate lunch....you can do that sometimes!

Went to a friends house for a BBQ.

And watched the daddies blow off some fireworks.

Then went to a field where we watched a bunch of fireworks.

And stayed up way too late (it was midnightwhen they went to bed)but had a blast doing it anyway!

This is our daddy. Can you believe he can actually sleep like this? Mommy always gives him grief for being able to sleep anywhere and anyhow. Personally, we just thinks she's jealous of his (and our) narcoleptic ways. Our daddy is also really good at lots of other things too. And since today is Father's Day, which according to mommy means its daddy's special day and he need do whatever he wants, (I hope he wants to go swimming) Declan and I thought we would share with you why our daddy is so special.

He's the best daddy because he wrestles with us, plays airplane with us, let's us play Legos on the tv when Mommy's at work, takes us to the park, lets us help him mow the lawn, lets us help him with the basement, catches the kitties for us so we can pet them, takes me to school, builds sand castles in the sand box, takes us swimming, watches movies and cartoons with us, goes to work everyday so we can eat at Pizza Ranch and McDonalds, (and he mentioned a whole lot of other things he needs to work for but these two stuck out in our mind) lets me snuggle with him in the morning, fixes our broken toys, plays catch with us, reads us books every night and tucks us into bed every night.

Mommy said he's special because he loves us and takes care of us and brings home the bacon (I prefer sausage though!) and because he'd do anything for us.

We love you daddy! Happy Father's Day.

After church on Sunday we went over to the bridge by our house in the hopes that we could capture some cute pictures of the boys. Earlier this spring I had the thought that I could save some money and take my own picture of the boys instead of paying someone for a professional picture. Well we know why they are professionals, not only can they take great pictures but they also seem to have the ability to control the kids. A trait that is not possessed by me, Trevor or grandma and papa. They just got goofier as we went along. But we did have fun and we did get some cute shots of the boys. Here are a few, or maybe lots, of my favorites.

It's not too often that Trevor and I get a decent picture of just the two of us.

Omaha Zoo

This past weekend we took the boys (and grandma and papa) to the Omaha Zoo. This is our third (Really?) summer in Sioux Falls and we have gone every year. It's such an incredible zoo. The boys had been talking about it for weeks. So at the crack (Carson was up at 3:30 ready to go) of dawn we woke up to drive down to Omaha for the day. Thanks to a new Transformer DVD and grandma sitting between them the boys were entertained the whole way.

Our traditional family photo on the REAL steam engine train. It's one of the neatest trains to ride. And I think the boys enjoyed it since they asked no less then 173 times if we could ride it again.

Apparently it was wear blue to the zoo day. Declan and I seemed to have missed that plan though.

Success! They are both looking at the camera.

Even the loud noise of the train whistle and the blowing steam couldn't keep him awake. When he's ready for a nap, he's ready for a nap. Good thing Papa's hand was there for a pillow.

Carson was in animal heaven. Running around like he was on crack from animal to animal. He is definitely a fan of the zoo.

After 5+ hours at the zoo they crashed on the ride home., watching Transformers of course.

4D Ultrasounds Rock

22 weeks or 5 1/2 months pregnant or 18 more weeks. Yowza! Either way I had one of the neatest experiences today. As I've said before I was chosen to be part of a study through this pregnancy and the babies 1st year. As part of that study I am blessed with 2 extra ultrasounds (and a gift card to Target!). My fist ultrasound was today and I had the opportunity to check out our peanut in 4D! Wow, it was awesome. Seriously, it left me speechless and I've been staring at the pictures ever since. It's like a real live look inside. And well let's just say that this Peanut definitely has my grandma's, and my mom's and Carson's, and my nose. Oh to be so lucky!!

He or she is also still measuring big. It seems in the last 2 weeks I have gone from measuring 6 days ahead to measuring 2 weeks ahead. Oye! Carson measured 2 weeks ahead the entire pregnancy so looks like this one is right on track to be a big baby too. Here are some pictures from my ultrasound today. Memorial Day Weekend

You probably don't want to know just how long I have been working on getting these pictures up. Not a few hours or a few days but about a week and a half. They are from Memorial Day and well that was almost 2 weeks ago now. It seems our summer has kicked off to a rip roarin start. We are traveling four weekends in a row. Crazy I know! The packing and unpacking is a little ridiculous. Not too mention a business trip has been involved in this too. Unfortunately stay-at-home moms don't have business trips so I get to stay home, imagine that. But some how I was still involved in the packing.

Oh, I digress....

The first of our four weekends away was Memorial Day weekend. We were traveling fools putting in over 800 miles, hitting both grandparents, a picnic, a 6-seater bike ride, a Twins game, a train ride, a zoo, Chipotle (totally worth the 800 miles) and Dinos Gyros (again, totally worth the 800 miles). Here are ~~some~~ lots of pictures from our fun weekend.

We rented a six seater bike to drive around the park with grandma and papa Cameron. The boys were pretty excited. We did this once before about 2 years ago. Let's see if I can find a picture.....

My how they have grown! Carson has the same look on his face...some things never change. I didn't get a very good video of our bike adventure this year. But you can check out the fun video from 2 years ago here.

I could use a bike like this all the time. So much fun.

My goal this summer is to get a decent picture of the boys, together, in this outfit. From the looks of things that might be easier said then done.

It seems Carson and Declan's favorite thing to do this summer is pick dandelions. Last weekend we were in the car and we passed a big field full of them and Carson said, "Look at all those dandelions mommy, I wouldn't know where to begin."

We took the light rail train into downtown Minneapolis for the Twins game. The boys thought that was the neatest thing we could have done.

At the game all the kids got wooden bats. We are know the proud owners of 2 wooden bats that are bigger then they are.

Look! Papa Cameron even played in the game. It seems he got a really dark tan though. ;-)

We didn't get back from the game until 11:30. The boys don't normally sleep in the same bed. In fact, they never have. But it seems when they are uterrly exhausted there is no time for goofing around and they pass out. I'm not even joking when I say they both were asleep in less then 3 minutes.

And they stayed that way until long after the sun was up.

Off to Como Zoo.

We love Como Zoo. It's free and it's perfect size. It's been awhile since we've been there though.....

Seems the last time was 3 years ago on Carson's first birthday.

And they are still trying to catch up on sleep from the past few weeks.

Spring Program

Carson has his spring program this morning. Based on our experience with the Christmas program I wasn't expecting much. You see he didn't sing, dance or move at Christmas mostly pouted. This morning at breakfast we told him he better sing loud so mommy and daddy could hear him. His response was for us to sit in the front row. Sneaky devil. We didn't quite make it to the first row. Some of those parents must show up at the crack-o-dawn to get their seat because we were there 25 minutes early and they were all gone. Ah, the pressure of being the front row parent. But we did get ourselves an end seat so that was a plus.

Mr. Carson some how scored himself the all important position of Line Leader as they all came in.

And he got to stand by his best friend Andrew so all was right in preschool world.

Watching 36 preschoolers sing and dance is hilarious and so entertaining. Some barely moved and were very stiff (like the boy in the tie on the bottom left) others were singing at the top of their lungs and dancing like a crazy child, one child when the teacher announced what song they would be singing shouted, "not again" (I think its been non-stop practice for a few days) and yet another child was jumping off every step of the bleacher. What a hoot! I can't wait for the next program.

20 Weeks

20 weeks down, 20 weeks to go. Or maybe only 19 weeks to go considering the baby is measuring about 6 days ahead. God help me if this is another Carson.....9lbs 6oz and about 60 lbs gained. I lost 60+ pounds once I'm not certain I'd be granted that good fortune again. Either way the baby is healthy (and if gaining that weight means a healthy baby, I'm ok with that) and looking good, at least what we could see of it. Seems the peanut is facing down and looking towards my back so we couldn't see much of it's face. But we did get to see its little arms flailing about. So precious. Heartbeat was right at 154 (the boys were 155 the whole way through).

I've been blessed with the opportunity to participate in a study through the University of South Dakota so we will actually get to see the baby 2 more times before he or she makes her appearance. For now here are some of our pictures.

Future Artist

Carson's last "real" day of preschool was yesterday. Tomorrow they have a school program and next Tuesday is a park/fun day. So yesterday was the big day that all the school supplies and every last paper came home in his backpack. He was so excited about it that it was the first thing out of his mouth when I picked him up and the whole car ride home (which included a trip through the car wash). When we got home he ran right upstairs with his backpack and insisted that I sit next to him so he could show me all his stuff.

He pulled out his supply box to show me all his markers, glue, scissors, crayons and pencils. I noticed that all (seriously ALL) the crayons looked like they were brand new, just like when I sent them to school back in September. I asked him if he even used his crayons and his reply was, "No, I like my mawkews bedda." Really? He has to be the only kid who comes home with perfect crayons after 9 months of school.

The teachers did put together a portfolio for each kid to let parents see their child's progress in name writing, cutting, tracing and my personal favorite, self portraits. I took some pictures so you could see just how far our budding artist has come, it's quite impressive.

This was his first attempt at a self portrait in Sept. No mouth, just some eyes and a nose.

October's version included some arms, legs, mouth and even some hair.

January is pretty close to October just a little bigger. But his arms are now coming out of his head.

And this my dear readers would be April's version. He's even got feet and ears!

I'm not going to complain about the fact that it was almost 90 yesterday and that is supposed to be 90 today and again tomorrow. But holy crap....it's hot and I'm pregnant and it's only May 19th. Enough said.

It was so nice out last night that we let the boys do this.....

I'm fairly certain he is praying to God that he does not have to go back through that sprinkler. He's not a fan.

But this one the other hand couldn't get enough.

Note to self: A plastic sprinkler cannot withhold the weight of a 40 pound toddler.

He may just be taking a swing at me. Maybe.

I'm wondering how many posts in a row I can go with pictures of the kids at the park. Looks like I am at 3. Tis the season for park adventures I guess. For the record....none of these pictures in the last 3 posts have been from the same park. That has to count for something right?

Oh roller slide.....how the boys have missed you all winter. No need for fancy parks with all the bells and whistles. Just give them a roller slide and they will be entertained for quite awhile.

Spring! It's here! I love spring. It smells good. It looks good. It feels good. It is the BEST season. Today we didn't get in the car to go anywhere, we didn't need to go to the store or Target or run any other kind of errand. We got in the bike and went to the park. Then we came home and had lunch on the deck with daddy. I love spring because it makes me appreciate being a stay at home mom even more. Days like today are simply the best! As you can see the boys were thrilled to be outside. So much stuff to climb on, so many places to run around and so much energy to use up!

I even tried to snap a picture of the boys by the river. They, along with most children I assume, have difficulty taking a decent picture. It either turns out serious and weird....

or goofy! Good thing they're so cute.

Tomorrow I will be 18 weeks. I feel MUCH better. Thank Goodness!! But man has this been the longest 18 weeks of my life. I've felt a few small kicks here and there and we have our ultrasounds scheduled for later this month (no we won't find out the sex). I must be showing enough or my neighbor is very brave. She came out on the porch today and yelled across the street wondering if I was pregnant. Good thing I was otherwise that would have been a major open mouth insert foot moment.

I was left alone this weekend for the WHOLE weekend. Yes you read that right...no kids, no husband, no poopy diapers (but we have had 6 between both boys since their return, I've changed and wiped all of them.), no early morning wakings, no tantrums, no whining, no PB&J making, no lego playing...you get the drift. It was GLORIOUS! My biggest project for the weekend was painting the bathroom. I don't really want to talk about it, let's just say I am NEVER painting a bathroom again. I love how it is turning out but it was one big pain in the butt and took me ALL DAY on Saturday.

And here's a sneak peek of our new blue bathroom. I'm still trying to put it back together and put everything back where it belongs so until that is done this will have to do. I'll hopefully be back later this week with some before and after photos of our new blue bathroom.

Instead of birthday cake on Carson's actual birthday I convinced them that DQ was way better. Carson tried to argue with me that he "needed a birthday cake" but my pregnancy determination was successful in convincing him he did not. This mama was "caked" out. So before presents we stopped at DQ for some chocolate dipped cone goodness.

I can't believe my baby is 4. Four years ago today we became parents and I remember it as if it was yesterday. I remember laying there for what felt like minutes until they final announced, "It's a Boy!" And we were introduced to a 9lb 6oz healthy baby boy that would forever change our lives.

A baby that would turn into a little boy who every morning around 5am quietly enters our room and asks to sleep with his daddy. A baby who now asks for peanut butter and jelly every day for lunch. A baby who now says Please and Thank You after everything (including me wishing him a Happy Birthday this morning). A baby who tonight will be the proud owner of a 16 inch bike without training wheels. A baby who in just 17 months from now will enter Kindergarten. A baby who is so very much looking forward to the arrival of his new brother or sister (he would prefer a brother!).

Carson you are the light of our world. You have brought your daddy and I so much joy. We are so proud of you and today we wish you a very Happy 4th Birthday! We love you Little Man!

Yesterday it was Carson's turn to bring birthday treats to school. Which also means he gets to be Line Leader, a position that is highly guarded in the preschool world. All his preschool friends sang Happy Birthday to him and he was enthroned with a sticker and a birthday hat!

We celebrated Carson's birthday last weekend. We headed to Space Aliens for dinner and some games.

We spent Easter with my folks this year. It was a gorgeous day....if you don't count the 40 mph winds that were in our face on the way home. But we're pretty much used to that by now. Church was fabulous and how can it not be? Jesus is Alive!!

After church we tried to get a picture of the boys. This is how it always starts. Silly faces but not aimed towards the camera. So we ask them to look at mommy which turns into.....

one child pouting and the other so not interested. We are such mean parents. But we continue on...

and find that one child will make cute faces while looking at the camera (sort of).

We try to convince that child to cheer up the other child. And he made a good attempt which turned into...

A half smile but still one is not looking at the camera.

It's a work in progress.

And I could show you the outtakes of our family picture but I think you get the idea.

But seeing what the easter Bunny left is sure fun.

And so is hunting for eggs.

Last night was our 3rd night of swimming lessons. If you remember our first lesson was a disaster....crying, wailing, screaming, kicking....the whole works. Last week was better. And last night was excellent. He waved good-bye to us (with a smile on his face), sat with his own class, got right in the water and sang and swam like a champ for 45 minutes. In fact, he was the ONLY child who did not shed a tear last night. Yay!! Too say we were very proud parents would be an understatement. Here is a video of our newest little fish! (They may have gotten some of my swimming genes in them after all...let's hope so!)

April snow brings......snowmen and Easter Eggs

Snow in April is cruel, just cruel. Especially when we haven't had snow in over a month. On Friday the kids were out in sweatshirts and Crocs. By Saturday it was raining, snowing, sleeting, blowing and just plain cold. I'm hoping we broke out the snow pants and snow boots for the last time. But the boys did have a blast building not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 snowmen! Who are all slowly fading.

And while it was so cold and icky out we decided to pass the time dying Easter Eggs.

Yesterday in the grocery store the boys and I turned down the aisle and there was a lady where shorts. Why she was wearing shorts I'm not sure but around here once it hits 50 then everyone breaks out the flip flops, shorts and capris and they don't get put away until next winter. Regardless of the fact that it was 21 degrees when we left for the store. Here is how our converstaion went at an audible level to the girl...

Carson: Hey mommy that girl's not wearing any pants.

Me: No, she has shorts on.

Carson: Nope she's not wearing any pants.

This morning in church as we were settling into the pew the pastor turned around and Carson looked at me and exclaimed...

"Mommy, that guy has a big belly like you have a big belly."

Try calling him a girl now.

Fire Station Tour

Carson has been learning about Community Helpers the past few weeks at school. Last week a policeman visited and they got to check out his car, hear the sirens and learn some safety rules. Carson informed me afterwards that if I drive too fast the policeman is going to come get me. Thanks....I'll keep that in mind honey! Today we took a field trip to the fire station. While we were there the firemen got a call so we got to see the big yellow fire truck (which is temporary while they fix the red one) go lights and sirens out of the building. It looked like 40 4 year old were going to die of excitement!

And I assumed it was a non-uniform day since we were on a field trip. Carson was the only one not in uniform. Whoops!

The boys started swimming lessons a couple of weeks ago. It was the first time that Declan was going with out myself or Trevor. To say we were nervous about that would be a very big understatement. But we talked alot about it and that he was a big boy and would be all by himself. His response was that, "My teacher will help me." So I thought we were in for smooth sailing. Drop off went well and Trevor and I went to the balcony to watch.

He decided to try and join Carson's class. That's Carson's classs he is sitting with and that's his teacher on the left trying to persuade him to come over to his class.....she was unsuccessful.

But he did eventually get in the water. He spent 90% of the time clung to the side playing with the toys in the gutter. There was no crying during lessons so I thought we were golden.

I was wrong.

What ensued after swimming lessons is something I would like to forget. It involved one very mad little boy, a lot of tears, hitting screaming, kicking, wrestling and finally leaving the pool center with only pants and a shirt.....no diaper or shoes.

Here's hoping next week goes better.

Yesterday we took the boys down to Falls Park. It was 60 degrees! Please let spring be here fr good....no more white stuff.

We opened the car door and they went running. Declan's feet aren't even touching the ground he's going so fast.

The boys and I walked all over the rocks while daddy watched and took pictures.

Declan was sure to fill him in about walking on rocks. I think the story lasted 5 minutes. He's very detail oriented.

And put a girl in a navy blue/light blue coat? Really people? I wonder what their conversions are? I always assume its something along the lines of...

Person 2: I know. But did you see how her mother dressed her? Poor girl.

It's been cold and we've been stuck in the house. Being stuck in the house with 2 little boys can be a little challenging when it comes to entertainment. We've played hide-and-seek, made snowman with play-doh, played Wii, painted, colored, built with Legos, given horsey rides and the other day......

We watched as some crazy squirrels climbed the trees in our backyard.

Then we watched the Cardinals enjoy some bird food.

So needless to say we were very much looking forward to a weekend away. A weekend filled with seeing friends, shopping, swimming, Chipotle and watching some hockey.

and played with their endless amounts of Legos.

We had seats right behind the net. The boys were so excited and entertained. We had a few checks in front of us which sent juice cups flying and little boys jumping into our laps. Too bad our team lost but that's a whole other story. We had fun anyway!

I've been forced into the basement. Trevor insists on watching all 3 hours of Lost tonight. 3 hours? Really? So this is why ABC had to move Private Practice to Thursday nights. It's Lost mania in our house and I'm not a participant. And since my new addiction, the Wii Fit, is hooked to the same tv I'm forced down here to update the blog! So,lucky for you guys you'll get some pictures and a video to look at. Oh don't get me wrong this benefits me too.....I'll have time to play Wii at nap time tomorrow since I was planning on doing this then. My life is rough!

We got a Wii for Christmas and a Wii Fit this past weekend. I think its safe to say we're addicted and so are the boys. Tonight I was trying to teach Carson how to run with the Wii Fit. Check out the video....maybe he'll have Papa Cameron's running genes after all.

You'll be glad to know we haven't been stuck in the house in a Wii induced coma since Christmas. We've actually been outside sledding and playing in the snow quite a few times. Today the temp reached almost 40 degrees which in our neck of the woods is practically spring. While I know this warm streak won't last forever its nice to get out and not need 47 layers just to stay warm. Do you realize what little boys can do with such warm temperatures? It might as well have been 85 as far as they were concerned.

We also walked to the park. It was warm enough to climb all over the playground.

Trevor called me Friday afternoon and informed me that he had gotten 4 free tickets to a basketball game that night.

Yes that would be 4 $100 tickets COURTSIDE.....like on the basketball court.
With 2 kids.
We even had our own waitress!

At first I wasn't sure this was a good idea but the boys did great. We pretty much had a death grip on them the whole night for fear they would end up on the court in the middle of the game. Being that close definitely kept their attention.

We even caught a basketball and had it signed by Thunder, the Wolfe mascot.

Free entertainment is good.

Back to the Grind

It's back to the grind today after 2 weeks of Christmas and New Year's celebration. We've enjoyed the last 5 days with daddy home from work. The boys were a little confused this morning when they woke up and daddy was already gone. So today we are back on a routine, one that involves not skipping naps and being in bed before 9:30. I guess routine would also mean I should clean the house, make my bed, do some laundry and feed the kids. Hmmm, I think I like the vacation routine MUCH better.

Here is some of what we did with our little vacation.

Made pancakes for breakfast, played Legos on the kitchen floor while mommy cooked, painted with finger paint, slept in till after 8 2 of 4 mornings, went to a hockey game, went shopping sans kids, ate at the Original Pancake House, went to Target, fixed the Neon, played trumpets in the bathtub, painted 2.5 walls, went to Menard 17 times, played Mario Kart, fixed the attic entry, watched some hockey, made creme brulee, took down a crib, moved Carson to the top bunk so Declan could sleep on the bottom, assembled a toy shelf, switched car seats, played hockey, went to dinner at Fudruckers, hugged a mascot, looked at some Christmas lights, cleaned out a closet, played some golf bowling and boxing on the Wii, ate at McDonalds, bought some good ice cream, cleaned out the garage, took down the Christmas tree, fixed a wall, put in some new outlets, fixed the front door, went to Best Buy, played Gone Fishing, read some books, skipped a nap, cried, changed some diapers, went to church, watched some football, drank lots of Coke since today is Day 1 of "less Coke," and last but not least relaxed and enjoyed some time as a family.

And pictures to prove that at least some of the above is true......Happy 2009!

It was a good Christmas

We're home! The house is trashed, the bags aren't unpacked, there are toys in every direction, one car is in the shop, one car doesn't have breaks, one kid has bronchitis, one mom needs to go to Target (to get antibiotics for said child) and Sam's but won't have time since one dad needs the rental ~~car~~ box tonight (It's a Chevy Aveo). But enough of that mess I've got pictures and doing this seems more exciting then dealing with the Christmas tornado that has landed in my house.

Christmas was a blast. The boys had a great time and came home with some pretty good loot. Carson was convinced that Santa had also stopped at our house while we were gone, seeing as he made a stop at BOTH grandma's. I don't think we have room for any more toys. A new toy shelf or box is in the works since having them all over the floor doesn't seem like a viable option. Here is our Christmas in pictures. Enjoy!

Grandma Lee had lots of snow (both grandma's did) and so we took advantage and spent alot of time outside. Carson was in seventh heaven.

And so was daddy.

After some time outside we got ready for church.

The boys got a plate of cookies ready for Santa. And no we did not give Santa beer (although he may have liked that). Carson insisted that Santa would want a glass of apple juice instead of milk.

We read Twas the Night Before Christmas.

And then before we knew it Christmas morning had arrived, Jesus' Birthday! And the unwrapping began.

We got some new Legos.

We got a new toothbrush (Every boy's dream I'm sure)

We got new light sabers.

Carson got a new guitar.

Carson got Buzz Light Year (and Declan got Woody)

Then it was back outside. Carson was thrilled.

Even Declan came out and from the looks of it he may have had some fun.

Daddy and Carson snowmobiled.

And so did Daddy and Declan.

And look.....so did Mommy and Declan.

Nobody wanted to go inside.

The next day (Friday) it was off to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family.

Declan got his favorite book.

He also got new clothes which he was oddly thrilled about.

We got a new golf set.

The boys got a new camera.

And they have been practicing their photography skills ever since.

We got new remote control cars.

Declan got a new bear that may be bigger then him.

Well at least the head is.

We got a new fishing game.

On Saturday my dad took Trevor and I out for some cross country skiing. Something neither of us had tried. It was fun but alot of work and it was a gorgeous day out.

We were definitely blessed this Christmas.

Now we are ready to be home for awhile. 2 months of traveling non-stop have left us exhausted. Daddy has most of this week off so we will get to enjoy some time together and hopefully tackle a to do list that is a mile long!

Trevor and I are moving to Texas! We're so excited. No snow (or very little), warm temperatures, no wind chill factors, no 17 layers of clothing that STILL don't keep you warm, did I mention no snow? It's going to be a great move.

Ok, so we're not really moving but after this weekend I'm about ready too. Now if I could just convince my snow-loving husband that it's a good idea. Which may not be too hard seeing as we just spent the entire weekend in the house driving each other nuts! And to be honest, I probably did more of the driving on that one. Sorry honey!

I got cut from work on Saturday because it was freezing. By 10am Saturday we had built a fort, watched some tunes, eaten breakfast, showered, wrestled and drove each other nuts. Did I mention it was a long weekend? It was too cold for church or any other activity yesterday. By this morning the boys and I were dying to get out of the house. I was very jealous of Trevor going to work and that doesn't happen very often.

The Christmas Program

Tuesday was Carson's Christmas program at school. There is nothing quite as entertaining as watching 40 three and four year olds try and sing songs together. It was highly entertaining and it made me realize even more why I'm not a preschool teacher. How those 4 teachers pulled this off and got those kids to sing and act is beyond me. Bless them for it! They certainly are special people. Carson of course did nothing, na-da, zilch (unless you count picking your noes while on stage) for the entire program. I asked him about it later and he told me he was sad that they didn't sing Jingle Bells and that he got a red bell to ring instead of a blue one. Poor kiddo.

You'll notice in this first video that as he is walking in he spots Trevor filming and he stops dead in his tracks while all the other kids are filing by.

Yes that's him hiding behind his friend Trevor.

Maybe next year we can work on him actually smiling through the program.

Most people would call me crazy but earlier this week I decided to let the boys make sugar cookies AND decorate them. 4 days later I'm still finding sprinkles in every corner of my kitchen. But the mess was worth it because they had fun.

The recipe I used for icing was really neat. I gave the boys paintbrushes (new ones) and they could just paint it on.

Mmmmm.....looks tasty doesn't it?

The best part of cookie making is taking that first bite.

This will be our 4th Christmas with kids (really? 4 of them? Wow time flies!). And while we've enjoyed each one this one seems to be a little more special. Between preschool and home there have been many conversations and lessons about what Christmas is. As with any 3 year old Santa is usually at the top of the list and what he is bringing in his sleigh (which by the way changes every day...how Santa can keep that straight I'll never know). Carson has lit Advent wreaths at home, at school and at church. We have several Advent calendars in our house counting down the days until its Jesus' birthday and its the first thing they want to do in the morning and they ask at least 47 times throughout the day when they can put the next piece up or have another "tootsie woll." We have the supplies ready to make cupcakes for Jesus' birthday. We've donated some of our toys to those less fortunate then us. We bought our Christmas tree, decorated it and put an angel on the top of it. We've done some Christmas shopping. We'll be ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. We'll be buying and wrapping gifts to give to the less fortunate.

All these things in anticipation of Jesus' birth. I've always loved Christmas but watching all this anticipation through these four little eyes has been amazing. When I was little it took forever for Christmas to come but this year I want to hold on to this anticipation and wonder that our boys have. It's so much fun to watch.

O Christmas Tree

We may have picked the coldest, windiest day to cut down our Christmas tree. It didn't seem to stop Carson but as you will see from the pictures Declan was less then thrilled to be out in this weather. The farm that we went to was fantastic. The tree is incredibly full and smells wonderful. I think cutting down our own tree will be a new tradition. Next year I'll just hope its a little warmer!

Santa was even there. And both boys were willing to sit on his lap. That may have something to do with the fact that he offered them candy.

Oh and in my previous post. Yes Declan is saying the Lord's Prayer, the end of it at least. He knows most of it. And if you listen carefully you can hear him say, after Amen, "I did it!" So proud of himself.

Too Loud

For a few weeks Trevor and I have been talking about how we should go about taking Declan's plug away. This summer we cut him off to just at nap time and bedtime and he did really well. But there's no denying it, he's attached to that thing when he sleeps. I knew he would never just let us take it away and we tried to convince him that big boy's don't need it but he wanted nothing to do with that logic. (Reasoning with a 2 year old....I have no idea why that didn't work!) So we decided that we would "leave them at grandma's" over Thankgiving weekend. So Sunday night when he asked for his plug we showed him they were all missing (we stash them on our dresser). He was sad but reassured himself that grandma would bring them back to him. For the first few days he was reassured (mostly by Carson) that grandma would bring them. But the last two days he hasn't even mentioned them. Now, I'm just hoping that by next week when both grandma's are here he has totally forgotten about it. And then I can say this was WAY easier then I thought. But, I'm not counting any chickens yet.

One draw back of not having a plug is that it takes him longer to fall asleep. With the plug he was out before I left the room but without it he's laid in there and talked for over an hour a few times. Carson's even complained that "brudder is being too woud. Tell him to be quiet." The other day during naptime I caught something on the monitor that was too cute. See if you can hear what he is saying.

The Gingerbread House

Such a cutie and so proud that he got the hat on all by himself this morning.

The boys and I decorated our gingerbread house last night. Declan probably ate more then he decorated. Bad timing on my part since we did it right before dinner. Oops! Oh well the boys had a blast and it didn't turn out too bad either. Now if I could just keep their paws off it.

It's Turkey Week!

Can you believe its Thanksgiving week already? It feels like we were just making daily trip to the swimming pool to cool off. Christmas music is playing in all the stores, lights are going up, shopping has begun and next Sunday is already the first Sunday of Advent. Time flies I guess.

My good friend Amy pointed out that my last posted was titled, "Deer Hunting Weekend 2" yet I didn't mention any deer. Well, that would be because none were shot, in fact, we didn't even see one. Deer Hunting at its finest! I'm happy to report that everyone seems to be on the mend around here and feeling much better.

This weekend we had a little snowfall and thanks to mommy taking the keys with her to work the boys were stuck at home to play in it. Carson was thrilled and very excited to get his snow pants on. Declan on the other hand is just like his mommy, not much for all that gear or the cold. But Trevor did convince (read: force) him to stay out and have some fun.

After work on Saturday we took the boys to see Madagascar. 4 movie tickets, one bag of popcorn and a pop cost us $35 (who knew a matinee was considered something BEFORE 2pm silly us for thinking a 4pm show was a matinee.) The good news is the boys did really well, even Declan was entertained.

Deer Hunting Weekend 2

In less then a week Trevor and I have spent $150 at the clinic and pharmacy. We now have a mini pharmacy in our bathroom.

Cough medicine for the boys, eyes drops for me and everything else goes to Trevor who is the proud owner of bronchitis and some pneumonia.

Needless to say the last few days/week have pretty much been a fog. Last Friday we had the day from H-E-double-hockey sticks. Here is a run down of how it went.

10am - Trying to get gas at a gas station when an old lady backs into me. $430 in damage to my bumper....basically a scratch.

12pm- At Target for lunch with daddy when I go to the bathroom and notice my eye is red. Don't think too much about it and just hope its a little irritated

1pm - Leaving Target when the boys lock themselves in the car with our only set of keys. Luckily Trevor was able to "teach" Declan how to use the unlock button on the keys. (Now, he wants to do it all the time.)

3pm - Notice my eye is getting redder and I begin to wonder if I may have pink eye. Contemplate for an hour if I should call the doctor.

4pm - Call the doctor to see if they can call in a prescription for me since we are headed to the farm and the nearest clinic is a ways away. The nurse informs me that she can't do that...I must come in. Lovely.

4:30 - Carson wakes up from his nap and complains of a stomach ache. For the next hour I wonder if he is sick and think about taking his temp but assume that he is fine. (Mother's Instinct people....listen to it!)

5pm - I'm in the bathroom and Carson is in the living room I hear him cough and know instantly this can't be good. I run to the living room where he starts puking and I carry him as fast as I can to the toilet. All the time he's puking over everything. And let's just say most of it DID NOT land in the toilet but instead on the walls and floor.

6pm - We try to figure out if we should even go out of town for the weekend but Carson seems fine. We eat dinner and load up the car.

8pm - Car is packed and we are out the door but not before a stop at Acute Care to get something for my pink eye

9pm - $50 later and I have some medicine for the pink eye that is now in BOTH eyes.

11pm - On the road. Kids STILL awake. We decide to make one last pit stop before they fall asleep. As we are pulling into the gas station Declan starts throwing up. Good News: I had a bucket in the car and managed to catch most of it. Bad News: He had been drinking milk.

1am - We reach our destination with two passed out kids and two very worn out parents.

So most of our deer hunting weekend was spent being lazy. The boys and I stayed in our pjs until dinner time Saturday. Some days that's the best medicine. They were pretty zoned out.

But now they seem to be back to their usual crazy selves.

Carson came home with 2 drawing the other day. When I asked him what they were he told me he couldn't remember. But then after some deep thoughts he thought this one was supposed to be him. (It's supposed to be Jesus)

It looks like the Tiger has some stripes and a few appendages. That's a start.

I love this house. I love its location, I love that we are in a quiet neighborhood, I love the view and for most of the summer I loved the trees. Our house that is surrounded by 5 very large, very old trees, and that's not counting the neighbors or the park, that's just in our small yard. We've debated for a few months which approach to raking is better. It seems most of neighbors fall into the category of raking once a week for many weeks. I was of the mindset that it would be better to wait for all the leaves to be off the trees before you start raking. I'm still not convinced which way is better. But let's just say I spent the better half of the last 2 weeks raking....EVERY SINGLE DAY! And on Thursday I was shoveling leaves as fast as I could before the snow fell, and so were my neighbors.

One thing is for sure. The boys loved them.
And I'm so glad to be done with it until next year.

Now my leaves are piled into 30+ bags that need to get to the dump. Good Times.

Halloween Extravaganza

I've got a ton of Halloween pictures from the last week. We've been so busy raking leaves that I haven't had time to get them off the camera. And since I refuse to do anymore raking until ALL the leaves are off the trees I now have time to get these pictures going.

Our Halloween festivities started the weekend before Halloween with Zoo Boo. Then we had a preschool Halloween party, playgroup party, trick or treating and another Halloween party with friends. Needless to say we are costumed and Halloweened out. But it appears that the boys had a blast and I have about 5 pounds of candy that now needs to find a new home.
